Podcast #256 – Iron/Wood and Un/Daunted!

Imagine a 256 Player Game of Undaunted where you smush all the sets together and everyone plays one card in a 128 card hand

On this VGA-Compliant episode of the Shut Up & Sit Down Podcast, Tom and Matt are chatting about two excellent asymmetric games they’ve been dabbling with recently! First up is Ironwood – a game where wood and metal collide in a Root-Lite frenzy of asymmetric squabbling – followed by Undaunted 2200: Callisto – the newest, most lunar entry into the Undaunted series! Podcast #255 – Dragons & Demolitions

Thanks to Ryan Freeman specifically for always reading the descriptions xx

On this rambling, tangient-rich episode of the Shut Up & Sit Down Podcast, Tom and Pip chat Wings and Wyrms in a creature feature on Wyrmspan! Then, we take a break from the hotness to discuss an old classic that Tom was bored to tears by; Roborally.

Have a great weekend!

Review: Thunder Road: Vendetta

This week Matt is back to doing whatever it is that Matt seems to do best? Thunder Road: Vendetta is one of the more recent releases from Restoration Games, and we were honestly surprised by how much we liked it – packing chunky silly fun into a slim and lovely box, and with game design that actually makes the most out of its plastic components. Strap in, nitro up, and be aware that Matt won’t be partially naked for more than the first few seconds of the video. It’s an ancient SU&SD tradition, OK?

Podcast #254 – Dungeons & Directors

i thought about doing a cipher but i needed to eat some lunch, sorry

On this freshly sloganed episode of the Shut Up & Sit Down Podcast, Tom and Emily huddle around the boardgame campfire to tell tales about games of old. Or new. They’re all new games and I’ve wasted this pastoral image in an unfitting manner. Too late now! Nobody reads these descriptions and I’ve got stuff to do! We’ve gotta get going! On this podcast we talk about Kinfire Chronicles: Nights Fall, Hollywood 1947, and Vampire Village – a fine crop of funky boards.

Have a great weekend!

Review: Slay the Spire

i’m so sorry bloodborne: the board game one day I will play you and all will become clear

Slay the Spire has long been one of Shut Up & Sit Down’s very favourite deckbuilders, so we were immediately intrigued by its new cardboard iteration – Slay The Spire: The Board Game. Will it work? Will it be fun? Will it be as good as the video game?

Tom’s got the answers. Well, he’s got his answers.

Enjoy!

The Top 100 Board Games of All Time – Episode 3: Galaxy Trucker

It’s actually just regular trucker, none of our criticisms are valid, oopsie doopsie

We’re back with yet another episode of Shut Up & Sit Down’s very own self-imposed sisyphean task: The Top 100!

This time, Tom and Matt are chatting about Galaxy Trucker, gimmick games, and ‘having a bad time in space’. It’s been too long since we’ve sat down to this game, and we had a great time – so great, in fact, that we’ll likely make our very daft playthrough available to donors in the near future.

Thanks for watching everyone! We’ll have some more three-person episodes very soon!

Podcast #253 – batteries.

the duracell bunny is a marmoset in disguise, don’t tell them

On this battered episode of the Shut Up & Sit Down Podcast, Tom and Matt are making batteries in Salton Sea, eating batteries in After Us, and getting battered in Dobro! It’s the battery special, officially sponsored by Duracell and the horrible bunny that we all hate.

Have a great weekend, everybody!

Podcast# 252 – Just Two Players, Looking for a Third

The Steamiest Episode of the Podcast Yet

On this mildly unhinged episode of the Shut Up & Sit Down Podcast, Tom and Emily are taking on a double-bill of two player games followed by a BIG CHUNKY BOX. First up is Quacks of Quedlinburg: The Duel – a two-player only version of the bag-busting (sorry) classic! We then chat about the ying to Quacks’ yang in the highly-tactical time-bending fish-em-up Fisheries of Gloucester! Finally, we chat about Bloodstones – a divisive strategy game that Tom bravely defends and recklessly batters.

It’s a good pod! We had a lot of fun! I hope you can tell!
